Happy New Week! Great to have you on #InspirationDailywithJumoke

TITLE:
“GUILT”
INSPIRATION: This emotional feeling should not drive you to destruction but genuine repentance.

Guilt is a powerful feeling, very well needed but when over flogged, can become a huge burden leading to destruction! Checking the definition of Guilt, Guilt is a thinking or an emotional experience that occurs when a person realizes or believes (accurately or not) that he or she has compromised his or her own standards of conduct or has violated a moral standard and bears significant responsibility for that violation; closely related to the concept of remorse. This definition shows us that everyone has felt this way before; in fact, it has been since the beginning of the creation of man.

God placed “Conscience” in man to direct him, letting him know the difference between right and wrong! However, if your conscience is governed by the Holyspirit, He will lead you always in the right path. Guilt comes when the conscience has seen a wrong behavior and it is now remorseful. However, many because of this feeling have gone astray but many have also been delivered! The guilt that Judas Iscariot felt was a catastrophic one because it led to suicide. However, the guilt that David felt after Prophet Nathan narrated his wrongdoing (the adultery and murder case), led to repentance; David was remorseful; he said in Psalm 51:3 “For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me’. He was overwhelmed with guilt but he didn’t give up, he understood God’s love! He knew that God’s mercy and unfailing love will give him another chance. In Psalm 51:10, he said “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me”. He asked God to give him a new heart with clear conscience and that is what God did so clearly that He made the product of his infidelity, Solomon, the next king after him. I tell you, this would have given David a lot of confidence and assurance that God had forgiven him.

Guilt should bring you to repentance; it should not take you away from God’s Presence. Many backslide because they couldn’t receive God’s love and mercy, because they couldn’t forgive themselves due to the guilt overwhelming their conscience, many have not received salvation because of this feeling too. If you find that you are in this position for one reason or the other, don’t let it destroy you, all you need do, is go to God in genuine repentance and accept His forgiveness. Let go GUILT and go back to God, He is waiting to receive you!
