TITLE: “Cling to the CROSS”
INSPIRATION: The Hymn “The Old Rugged Cross” by George Bennard.

http://www.hymntime.com/tch/htm/o/l/d/oldruggc.htm

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best, For a world of lost sinners was slain.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true; Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away, Where His glory forever I’ll share.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown.

Would you cling to that Old Rugged Cross? The Cross of pain and suffering, the cross of rejection, the cross of shame, the cross of hunger, the cross of persecution, the cross of hate, the cross of sorrow and tears, the cross of partiality, the cross of condemnation, the cross of mockery, the cross of loneliness! Would you cling to the dirty, heavy old cross that gave you Salvation, and exchange it some day for a crown and eternity in paradise with our Lord Jesus Christ?

This same cross produced Life, Grace, Salvation, Love, Power, Reconciliation with God and the Fruits of the Spirit of God. Would you go through the cross of waiting patiently for the Lord, the cross of carrying on the Good News of Salvation and Life, the cross of winning souls, the cross of changing lives and impacting the Kingdom, the cross of giving, the cross of depriving yourself, the cross of fervent service, the cross of selflessness, the cross of consciously living without sin, the cross of fasting and hunger, the cross of total dedication to God? A cross every believer must carry! If you are not willing, Jesus Christ says in Luke 9:62, “you are not fit for the kingdom”. Take up the cross.

Matthew 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”

Don’t leave that cross till you meet thy God!
