TITLE: “Test Your FAITH”
INSPIRATION: Phillip’s test of Faith in John 6:1-15 helped him build His Faith.
2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.”
Jesus Christ asked Phillip, His disciple, a question when He saw a large crowd of hungry people coming towards Him in John 6:5 “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” Phillip responded in John 6:7 “Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!” Phillip was a Disciple of Jesus, one would have expected that since he followed Jesus everywhere, witnessed many miracles, and would have witnessed more powerful encounters with Jesus as a closer follower. Yet, he failed the “Faith Test”. But Philip did not give up, he recognized where his faith level was and went on to be a martyr for the kingdom.
FAITH grows and has different levels. Faith level is obvious, it can be measured! God’s mind for us is to grow deeper and deeper in our FAITH in Him. One way you can know your level of Faith for God is to test it! Phillip was tested but failed, but he eventually grew in Faith so much that He laid His life for Jesus by being stoned to death after reaching many with the Good News! Do you think Phillip would have made such a huge sacrifice for Jesus if his faith and belief was not grounded? Would he have died for Jesus, if his faith level was still the way it was before his first test? I don’t think so! His Faith grew only because it was tested. You cannot know if a child is qualified for a higher class level if he is not tested in his current class. You cannot know your level of Faith except it is tested!
And so, Jesus will test you, you will be tested for all things until you have SOUND FAITH! That FAITH that can move mountains, that can make you die for Jesus! The time when chips will be planted on the head and the left hand (end time) will soon be here. As a Child of God, your FAITH will be tested strongly to truly know if you can live by Faith; remember, we can’t be partakers of this scheme! Don’t wait for that time; examine your faith now to know it is genuine so your faith can WITHSTAND end time devices!
