TITLE: “ANOTHER CHANCE”
INSPIRATION: We serve a God of another chance! But we must live sin behind us!
Psalm 136:12 “With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth forever.”
God’s mercies are forever! Studying the synonyms of mercy, mercy describes many words; humanity, forgiveness, compassion, sympathy, kindness, understanding, love and many more! You can imagine serving a God that has all of these forever!!!!!!! Glory! That’s our God! Mercy gives us another chance; since creation, God was full of mercy! Jesus Christ then came to finalize mercy; He came with Grace so abundant!!! Glory!!!
The Israelites are a great example of how merciful God is. Even though they went back to their sins many times but God still forgave them and gave them another chance over and over again! King David experienced and understood mercy; no wonder many of his psalms, sing of the mercies of God! Even we today, we can’t count the many times God has forgiven us and how many times He forgives us each day! If not for His merciful nature, the devil would have had us. “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.” Psalms 118:
However, Romans 6:1 points to a very important question “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” Should we continue sinning because we know that God is merciful? There are some situations that man puts himself that leads to outright destruction, because even though God’s mercy is abundant, it cannot help the situation. Like the examples we gave earlier, even though the Israelites had many chances, their continual sins lead to their captivity and destruction. David was forgiven, but still had to pay for the consequences of his sins. Judas Iscariot couldn’t live with himself, couldn’t understand how God would forgive him and so, he committed suicide.
Though, God is merciful and gives another chance every time, we must take the path of total repentance so that the besetting sin itself do not lead to permanent destruction. He who has an ear let him hear.
